We're hosting an array of after school options for all students.  From our daily after-school program which provides homework assistance, crafts, and games, to specialty classes like chess and dance, private music lessons, intramurals, and team sports. Our portfolio of programs has something for everyone.

Our programs rotate with the seasons; fall, winter and spring, providing a variety of opportunities for growth and exploration throughout the year. 

Wildcat is Westerly’s daily after-school program, rooted in supporting each child's academic, social, emotional, and physical development. Led by the Wildcat team, students will have the opportunity to expand their school day with homework support, enrichment projects, outdoor play, and creative expression.  Activities are built with the goal of allowing students to pursue their passions balanced with the discovery of new ones, all in a healthy and safe environment. 

Schedules are subject to vary by grade, but will typically follow a framework with the following components: 

• Homework Help/Reading  
• Snack 
• Outdoor/Movement Play 
• Enrichment Project 
• Supervised Free Play 
  

Pre-registration is not required for this option. Your child may go directly to Wildcat after school. Please note that all students who have not been picked up by 3:30 p.m. (M-Th) and 2:00 p.m. on Friday will be accompanied to Wildcat.

Charges are $35/day.

Complimenting the daily Wildcat program is a series of enrichment classes offered throughout the school year. These classes, meet one day per week, focus on a specific area of interest.

Enrichment classes are offered by both partner organizations and Westerly faculty/staff. 

Intramurals (Sports Clinics)

Supplementing our athletics league is an array of intramural programs, providing students the opportunity to learn and practice fundamentals of the game, along with application in a game setting through scrimmages.

Athletics (Team Sports)
Competitive athletics offer an invaluable opportunity to teach our students the value of sportsmanship, teamwork, and the importance of healthfully managing life’s wins - and defeats. Our Wildcats participate in an athletic league along with neighboring schools.

Immerse yourself in the art of music with Westerly’s private after-school music lessons! Offered by the Westerly Music Department, we strive to present fun, dynamic, and diverse instruction in vocal and instrumental music. It is our goal to instill a passion for music in our students, while helping them build confidence and grow in their chosen craft.

Lessons are available to students who wish to play the following instruments:

• Beginner Piano - K-8th Grade

• Brass (trumpet, french horn, trombone, euphonium, tuba) - 5th-8th Grade

*Before you register, please follow these steps:

1. Families should first email Mr. Patrick Lenertz ([email protected]) to ensure scheduling can be arranged.
2. Once scheduling has been confirmed, please email [email protected] with the confirmed schedule and for registration instructions.

If my child is staying after school for an enrichment class or athletics, does this count as attending Wildcat, and would I need to use one of my “Wild Pack” visits?
If you pick up your child immediately after the enrichment class or practice, this does not count as Wildcat. We also offer a 30-minute grace period in case you are running late, so your child may stop by Wildcat during that time without using a Wild Pack or being billed for a drop-in. If your child attends Wildcat after an enrichment class or practice for more than 30 minutes, then this will count as using Wildcat for the day. 

Does Westerly prorate the drop in fee?
We do not have a prorating option available for the drop in rates, however, we do offer a 30-minute grace period after dismissal where drop-in charges are not issued.  

Do unused Wild Pack days roll over?
Yes, in the event that you have leftover Wild Pack days from the previous season, we will roll them over into the upcoming one.  

Additionally, since the Wild Packs roll over, we ask that families with multiple children register each of them with their own Wildpack. 

What is the Pick-up Protocol?
Wildcat Pick-up: Parents/guardians are to call or text the Wildcat Phone ahead of time and enter the valet line upon arrival:

We encourage parents/guardians to call or text about 5 minutes before arrival to allow time for students to pack up and make their way to the office. Parents are also welcome to park and walk up to the main office. 

Westerly Athletics + Enrichment Classes Pick-up: Parents/guardians are to enter the valet line and wait for their student to be dismissed at their scheduled time.

Please ensure the adult picking up your child is on the authorized pick up list (Renweb) or email the after school team ([email protected]) allowing permission to pick up–please include the first name and last name of the adult as well as their cell phone number.
